What do customers experience when they interact with your business? Is your website easy to use? Are your staff friendly and helpful when they call? Do their packages arrive quickly and undamaged? Is your returns policy easy? Do you offer multiple payment options? Identify and implement the things that will make it as easy as possible to love dealing with your business.⁠

2. ASK FOR FEEDBACK:

This can often be the scariest thing to do as a business owner as most people are scared that if they ask for feedback, then they might hear some less than positive things. BUT! This kind of honest feedback should be welcomed with open arms because it gives you the opportunity to fix problems that exist in your business, and make the customer experience So. Much. Better!⁠

3. EXCEED EXPECTATIONS:

It is human nature to remember stand-out experiences. Think about when your friends and family tell you about an experience they’ve had with a business they’ve used – it’s either extremely positive, or extremely negative. You never hear “Oh, I went to Kmart, and it was exactly what I expected.”. Look for ways that you can exceed your customer’s expectations so that they rave about you (in a good way!)⁠

4. SURPRISE AND DELIGHT:

What are some ways you can surprise and delight your customers? Do you ship a secret free gift with every purchase? Do you send your customers a voucher on their birthday? What are the things you can do to surprise and delight your customers so that they remember and love you?⁠

5. BE THANKFUL:

One thing we often forget, is to actually THANK our customers. Customers have so much choice, however they have made an active choice to buy from YOU. Thank them for choosing you. For coming back. For telling their friends. If people feel appreciated they won’t hesitate to continue to help and spread the good word.⁠
